View Our Programs Today!Calling all aspiring young chefs, ages 7-11, to join the COMO and Yellow Farmhouse Education Center for an exciting multi-week series of hands-on cooking classes. Throughout the program, chefs will explore essential cooking techniques, from knife skills and "mise en place" to learning different cooking methods such as sautéing, baking, and grilling.
Join David Brannan, the founder and head brewer at 860Kombucha, to learn about the art of fermenting tea. You will learn how to use a SCOBY (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast) to guide your tea through fermentation, flavor it with ingredients of your choice, and create a SCOBY hotel (storage container) for continuous brewing. You will taste a variety of 860Kombucha flavors and leave with a kombucha home brewing kit!
In this workshop, Harry Rosenblum, author of Vinegar Revival, will teach you how to ferment and flavor vinegar. Harry will share how to cultivate a mother, brew vinegar at home, and explore recipes that use vinegar to enhance your favorite dishes. You will sample vinegars flavored with spring botanicals and use them to make an aioli and a shrub to bring back to your home kitchens. Cookbooks will be available for purchase.
Celebrate the versatile brilliance of rhubarb. Menus include sweet and savory recipes for sumptuous stews, sizzling sauces, refreshing cocktails, and more. Each class features tastings and preparations to take home and continue your rhubarb culinary journey. Join us Wednesdays this June!
Yellow Farmhouse and Stone Acres farmers will help you create a blueprint for your beds, plan for produce throughout the growing season, manage weeds and pests sustainably, tend tomatoes, cultivate your soil, and put your garden to rest in the fall. $35 per workshop!
Stonington's First Annual Breadfest is on June 7th at the Velvet Mill. Yellow Farmhouse is offering flatbread workshops throughout the day. In these hands-on grain-forward workshops, kids make a simple dough, griddle flatbread and top with local honey and farm fresh herbs. A fun, grainforward activity with tasty results to share!
Deepen your appreciation and knowledge of cheeses while enjoying a guided tasting curated by award-winning cheesemaker Brian Civitello of Mystic Cheese Company. Learn about Civitello’s artisanal cheese house right here in Groton, CT, and Westerly, RI, and taste a selection of cheeses, including The Gray, the first-prize winner of the 2024 American Cheese Society award for best international-style cheese. Cheeses will be served with hors d’ouvres made with locally grown produce and craft kombuchas by Mystic’s own 860Kombucha.
Our Young Cooks & Farmers program invites children ages 6-11 to explore sustainable farming practices and seasonal cooking. Young participants will work alongside farmers and culinary educators to grow, harvest, and cook fresh produce, all while learning about the importance of regenerative agriculture.
For younger children, Storytime on the Farm offers a delightful experience for kids ages 3-7 and their caregivers. Gather under the apple tree for a charming story, a fun nature activity, and a farm-fresh snack. Storytime will be held on Wednesdays starting July 2, from 10AM - 11AM.
